Be sure to call beforehand in advance and check opening times. Otherwise you may waste time on the road away from Bento justo to find that Geisse closing 4-ish on a Saturday, as it happened to us on our first try.
On the second try, we managed to get serviced sort of. We could not visit the wine yards. Service is a major issue. We got there and had to wait some almost 20 minutes watching other people drink and have fun before we were seen. When finally a girl came and said hello, she had to divide her attention with two other groups and again we had to wait considerable time.
It is not our fault that the place was understaffed. There are better alternatives close by. This was the only sparkiling wine vineyard I went to during my trip to the Brazilian wine country and it was worth it. The place is beautiful. They have about ten different kinds and it was nice to be able to see the difference between them in the tasting.
The girls wh take you on the tour are delightful and the process is much more complicated and hard work than I had anticipated. I bought a box with six bottles of sorted wines and wish I could have bought more. This is a definite must on the list of vineyards to visit during your stay at the Vale dos Vinhedos. Pinto Bandeira.
