I walked in on a weekend evening and didn't have to wait much. I got 40 minute foot massage and I have come to Thousand Mile Massage three times now. Each time I received a highly professional Chinese style chi bodywork massage. Now this is not the nice, relaxing, sensual treat many people from Europe or the United States expect. It is massage therapy so you will find the pressure intense. Like some of the reviewers have commented, if you know this in advance, you will likely appreciate the treatment.
If it is effective you should feel relaxed but energized at the conclusion. This has been the result in my case all three times I have been. The skill of the therapists varies but is generally quite good. The place is very professional, clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and efficient. If the pressure is too much do ask them to step it back.
My host when I come to Taipei is a connoisseur of body work and this place is her favorite. I will certainly come back! On a Saturday I had shoulder and foot spa services. Second time. Decided to go for TND full body massage with hot oil. The woman had no skills in massage therapy or technique. She kept speaking during the massage indicating that she had no idea what she was doing - OK?
But I knew her English was so poor that the OK was not really asking for clarification - she had no skill in deep tissue muscle work. She left the room several times. The desk personnel apologized. I told them if they were sorry they would not be taking my money for a service which was not provided. I would never have any service again requiring disrobing. Would still have the head shoulder foot spa treatments with tea and movies.
But never again would I trust them for knowledgeable body work. I love massages! I get it upon every opportunity I can get and my body is always sore due to all the traveling. So I got 4 massages from 4 different locations while I was in Taipei. And this place, by far, was the best I had too bad it was the last one I visited. Yes, the pressure was very strong and that was from a female masseuse. But whatever she did helped to break the knots I had all over my back.
