A Pleasant Plains woman charged in federal court this week with participating in a multi-state prostitution network appears to have been at the center of the operation, according to court documents. Dean was one of 17 people, mostly women ranging in age from 39 to 79, indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Peoria on conspiracy and coercion charges. The indictment names 16 women and one man who allegedly persuaded women to engage in prostitution, provided the prostitutes with places to live and engage in sexual activity and arranged for customers.
The document says the 17 called one another on the phone to discuss various prostitutes and arrange to have the prostitutes travel from one place to another.
The operation allegedly lasted from at least February until March The indictment details 19 phone calls among the defendants between October and January , and Dean was involved in every call. Dean and Thompson agreed it did not make sense to send Amanda to a new business in that condition. Dean asked Venable to tell her about any good prostitutes who might come through her business and said Venable should contact a prostitute called Joyce in Youngstown, Ohio.
Dean also talked to Alecia McGuire, 46, of St. Louis, the indictment says. At p. When she returned, she told the officer she was going to the bathroom to freshen up. The officer notified other officers, who entered the home and arrested Dean and three other women for prostitution. Records indicate no other prostitution-related charges against Dean until the federal indictment was made public this week.
The divorce was not finalized until April The records indicate she has one daughter, who is a teenager. The divorce filings say she and her former husband jointly owned interest in two time-share units, one in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
