I'll be flying in at night otherwise I'd just browse until I found something - if the responses are discoraging I may just forgo the 'cheaper' in this quest. The cheap hotels are arrayed along the side of the coast road at the bottom of the hill and out towards the docks. The LP describes these as brothels, but thats a bit misleading. However, many do rent rooms by the hour to prostitutes and their clients.
The prostitutes are visible in the local bars and cafes, all seem dressed in a uniform of long peroxide blond hair, heavy make-up, low cut tops, tiny skirts and high heels.
It seems the deal is that punters choose a girl in a bar, then they go to one of these hotels. Bear in mind I'm kg male, so I may not have the same sense of fear as a woman would have.
My sense is that for non-participants this trade is sordid and distasteful but not dangerous. The business appears to be consensual, albeit that the girls must have had some diffiuclt circumstances to end up in this trade. So you don't see punters forcibly grabbing women from the street. And if you check into one of these brothel hotels it doesn't mean you'll get a string of punters knocking on your door.
